It took me going through the entirety of Excalibur’s first run to enjoy Brian Braddock. Tbh I read Ex mainly for more nightcrawler and shadowcat.

It wasn’t my favorite for some reason (years ago), but may pick it up again. I find CB to work better in a team setting, though as usual I loved the art. Interested to see what you think!

Excalibur by Claremont and then by Davis is a total different vibe than the usual x men vibe which is not to say it’s bad but the opposite! It then become a x men uk after Davis leaves but I really recommend the whole volume nonetheless

Actually also reading through these stories for the first time at the moment, they’re good fun. It’s interesting seeing Moore in this early stage of his career. Loads of imagination and ambition, but he hasn’t fully mastered what he’s doing yet.

Jim Jaspers is one of the lawyers in the trial of Magneto in issue 200. Claremont was setting the table early, as he does, and he got blocked.

Claremont did get to write the Fury eventually, during his return to Uncanny in the 00’s. It didn’t have nearly the impact of Alan Moore’s original story. It did have nice Alan Davis art though.

Yeah, that’s a pretty neat bit of invention. The way it sort of intuits the existence of a multiverse so that it can keep on killing superheroes? Yikes.
