This is an under appreciated reality, and it comes from the (always unspoken) belief among virtually all media that the Republicans and their voters are just morons. And so who wants to write for morons?

A lot of the January 6 people turned out to be lawyers, doctors, dentists, nurses, teachers, business owners, law enforcement etc. People in well off jobs and good homes. Flew contrary to the narrative even some left wing commentators made about it being a working class movement
I think this is an understated factor going on where because the most hyper-MAGA people tend to be people you would consider well-off in society. Yet they get treated like salt of the earth types. We never saw stories of Biden voters in midwestern diners when he was president compared to 17-21
Accurate! But this is why all the centrists get bored and punch left. First, it’s not in their mainstream so it stands out. Second, they just get bored. Silver and Yglesias pretty clearly punch left because they want to spar and doing that with the modern right is…unsatisfying if you value logic.
