It really is me and one other team (a couple) covering maybe 40% of our count circle. We had a lot of other volunteers this year, but they were mainly counting smaller areas. The biologist that I rely on to cover another large zone had to drop out.
Cool! We found 2 Great Greys and a Hawk Owl today, but we had to drive out of town. If we’re insanely lucky there will be a Saw Whet in the ravine (there are sometimes a few this time of year) but otherwise it’s just our GHOs we could hope for.
We do. The effluent means there’s always some open water so we can count on some ducks and there are various raptors (esp bald eagles) that hand around to prey on them.
