The average American has three friends

Working on a book chapter about policy and politics and the way that the distinction b/w “positive analysis” and “values analysis” is meant to prop up attempts to keep policy and politics apart in technocratic visions of politics. Put me in mind of this. May use it. m.youtube.com/watch?v=s_4J...

It’s been too long since I have been in Hamilton (maybe this summer). But being on their local tv news is second best, I guess. www.chch.com/chch-news/al...

Partly because, in my profession, I feel some obligation to dispassion, but also b/c of my personality, I have generally put my political energies into working with groups/orgs engaging in advocacy from outside of direct electoral politics. So I have not been a direct volunteer for a candidate or…

"Your guilty conscience may force you to vote Democratic, but deep down inside, you secretly long for a cold-hearted Republican to lower taxes, brutalize criminals, and rule you like a king!"

Instructive. If, like me, you learned to blame nominalism for everything from the Radical Orthodoxy set, it’s got a deeper history.

While I’m sad for Jagmeet Singh and thought he conducted himself with class he really didn’t have a chance against his opponent. (Photoshop done my my 13 year old son.)

Sometimes I get lost for words and grab at the first ones that occur to me. Often those are words that make me sound like I just emerged from a long coma and don’t realize what year it is. I look forward to seeing if my repeated use of the word “emollient” gets printed. Sheesh.🙄

David is not alone in this. I make sure I tell every class and every journalist I talk to that understanding politics is not about making accurate predictions. You can bait me into predicting stuff, but that’s just for fun. The owl of Minerva takes flight only at dusk. You can quote me on that.
