There are a loooot of bird species here if I can take the time to get around in the summer. Southern interior desert-like habitats to sub-boreal habitats. And a couple of arctic species breed a few hours away (in the same district).

Nice! We have a bit of a mixture of boreal and grassland species and plenty of arctic-breeders moving though in spring and fall, but those would be tough numbers to beat in our region.

Those people were tough and pressed hard. I stand by my assertion that one would be hard-pressed and find it tough to get 200+ species. I, for my part, am soft and press only lightly.
