Back in the day on the somethingawful forums, a mod set a challenge that seemed so improbable that he said that if anyone did it he would eat his hat. On visiting his doctor the doctor advised that he not eat a regular hat because it was toxic...

... The mod hence constructed a Carmen Santiago fruit hat, and in order to prove that it was a hat spent a day around his home town doing activities proving it. He then ate the hat. It turns out that that's actually quite a lot of fruit so he did not feel well after.
