Or the decision to be made by Parliament.
Referendums are usually brought about because the politicians are cowards and don’t want to be accountable.
I wouldn’t
The UKs behaviour was appalling and destructive leading up to Brexit. The EU really doesn’t need the danger of more instability from a member country it could no longer trust again
If you join a club that you were recently a member of, then you are rejoining something you were once a member of.
Simple.🤷♂️
I will never forgive her
All anger & blame should be directed at Tory Governments from Cameron to Johnson imo. That's the only Constitutional logic.
Which she could have refused
The next constitutal crises is coming and will not be avoiding much longer because of Brexit
Today with this budget, it's pretty much sealed
what guarantee is the UK going to give the EU that a new govt comes in and then 52% of 60% means the UK marches out again?
will the public/govt accept this: https://neighbourhood-enlargement.ec.europa.eu/enlargement-policy/steps-towards-joining_en
has gone well, really.
they still need us more than we need them.
Will make things difficult but all decisions will be more difficult to ignore or undo.
also it is about a piece of legislation that is attached to it that has been passed by both houses. that, and nothing else, becomes law.
Joiners cannot win by default. We actually have to persuade swing voters/soft Brexiteers of the benefits of EU membership, including the benefits of using the Euro. Absolutely nobody is doing this. We are in a phoney war.
Most recent one was 7-8 August:
Stay out 41%
Rejoin the EU 34%
Neither 26%
I’m afraid most of us live in bubbles, hence value of polls.
They might well be right, of course. But I've not given up on the 2029 parliament.
can you please paste in links to all, or even some (one...?), of these polls.
i don't want to "do my own research" if you're making assertions.
Look under sub-heading: Conditioning Accession on Euro Adoption

Funnily enough, this is bubbling up again as a live topic in political debate, after many years of silence. The sudden, overwhelming NATO u-turn has ignited hopes of a similar wave of Euro enthusiasm. Only 43% now opposed, a huge fall.
The Euro is only a barrier to joining *IF* nobody tries to sell it in. Which is exactly what’s happening.
(Ask the SNP. Devolution was designed to be a trap, not a vehicle.)
The Euro would be traded as a single currency under my suggestion.

Less than two years later Britain had it's 1st Brexit Referendum.
It is upto the EU27. Whether or not to receive favorably an Application

I'm pleased to see Starmer Govt working towards better UK-EU relationships on a pragmatic basis. Relationship building (any context) always a long term project.
Adopt the metric system.
Drive on the right side of the road.
Then we'll talk.
