Reality is FPTP has already failed in keeping Farage out. It had one job and it didnt do it very well. Now we need PR to limit the damage.

Agree. It would also enable me to vote Green currently without feeling like it's a wasted vote. I did vote Green last election, but it felt pointless

I guess the trickiest bit about this is that the party holding power has just benefited from the FPTP system. I imagine it would break up the current parties with the left wingers in labour, forming their own party, etc. It would be interesting to see how it changed politics here.

A problem with PR is that it most often results in government coalitions. By definition, coalitions are held by their negotiations, not by what each party independently promised the electorate. Electors lose both responsibility and control.
