EA being jealous of BG3's sales (you know they are), wondering why DAV didn't get as many & coming to the conclusion that people hate single-player RPGs is hilarious.
They KNOW people love single player RPGs.
What they want is an excuse to fill a game w/live service drek so they get maximum coin.

But, they still made a mess of TS5. How they can do that when they know they have a money earner single player game is beyond me.
And I'll play it again, too!
ea just thinks we are dumb
BG3's success stemmed (IMO) from goodwill toward Larian on account of two superb Divinity games (OS1/2) and a long stretch in early access with flexible, reactive development.
Oh, and the bear trailer. lol
A certain type of gamer still doesn't understand how w*ke BG3 is because they have a stereotypical hottie to romance.
You wouldn't expect that looking at the louder parts of the fanbase, but... no, most people just wanted the hot lady.
And if I'm gonna be honest, one thing Veilguard could have done better with was the spice in the romances (though ymmv of course).
Andromeda did have some quite horny scenes, but it didn't help it much, so they probably think it's not worth the risk.
It was successful because it's a great game.
Success is more complex than 'game gud'. Plenty of great games don't sell worth a damn, plenty of mediocre ones sell tons.
There are definitely people tuned into the industry, who are more aware, but it's easy to forget when you're in that bubble - that's not most people.
If single player RPGs are popular, then DAV failed for other reasons that can only be explained with "We don't know how to make things people want."
It's all about making it not the fault of the person who is clearly at fault, and if possible, make it the customers fault.
Smaller and more independent developers tend to find good publishers that don't inhibit their creativity, and that leads to games like BG3.
There are lots of mods for EA games, but I can't think of any sourced games where they openly support the modding community - like yea you can mod minecraft, but they don't support that inherently at microsoft.
A bit like Bethesda and the Creation Club.
If they actually did, DAV would have gone from a good game, to an amazing one.
That's the big selling point of DA. The devs did great given the circumstances.
EA doesn't understand DA as a franchise.
BG3 got 2.5 million sales while still in early access, but it was in early access for 3 years, so not really a fair comparison 😅
(Can you imagine EA letting a Dragon Age game be in early access for 3 years? 😂)
I think that DA:V has best cinematics in BioWare's portfolio. Yeah there are some mediocre shots and questionable compositions but that's to be expected in a game of this length.
Final level is exactly how I imagine ME3 final level should've looked like.
And, as much as I love BG3, act 3 was unplayable for many people at launch.
DA:V, regardless of what people think of it, launched in a pretty flawless tech state. I still haven't had any glitches on xbox in multiple playthroughs.
Dug their own grave.
