THANK YOU. I was 19 when my OB/GYN sexually assaulted me. I was very naive and too embarrassed to tell anyone. I switched doctors. Years later, I read that the doctor who assaulted me was convicted of multiple counts of sexual assault of patients. He did to me exactly what he did to them.

There was a male nurse who did all the smear tests near where I live and he used to be really rough. I had skin tags inside from having big babies and the first one I had an episiotomy. He used to catch them every.single.time. he was always annoyed that I needed a longer speculum. Brutal!

Perpetrators of abuse do not fit a generic mold… we should not be surprised that “educated” people [men] do this. Prevention starts with a proper education of all children… acceptable behaviour should not be assumed it should be taught. Transgressors should be prosecuted regardless of their power.

So besides the worry women are burdened with that because of Trump's abortion bans they may not have OB-GYN care, on top of that they have to worry if the only OB-GYN they still have available is not molesting them. We're living in a bizarro world.

I've had weird and uncomfortable experiences with male ob-gyns. I've only been to female docs for the past 15 years and have felt much more comfortabe and confident that they understand my feelings of vulnerablity.

Similar past experiences. I have seem only female ob-gyns for many years, and have come to prefer female doctors for all specialties. I do see a couple of male doctors, but generally avoid them.

We put each other at greater risk when we assume women are less likely perpetrators…female practitioners are just as often abusers or bystanders.

Witnessed it first hand as an OR nurse. I reported it to management and nothing happened.
Patient under anesthesia he’s pulling on her labia called her dumbo and Gidget the flying nun. I spoke up and then reported him. He’s still practicing. Disgusting.

I couldn't believe doctors in hospitals performing gynecological exams on anaesthetized patients without their consent (and sometimes for no other reason than "they're learning how") is a real problem. But it is. It happens. Horrifying.

I told him that he should have discussed his concerns in his office when she was awake. His PA chimed in and tried to justify his actions.
Needless to say, I was super pissed and even more so when nothing was done after I reported him.

I only met one ob-gyn creep in my time but man was he creepy. I thought the tone of the scheduler was odd when telling me he was the only Dr at the practice that had an opening that day and was that okay.

After meeting him, it was apparent they knew he was a creep but he was still employed there.
