Is it even legal to make detainees work? I know some if not all states require work, most at ridiculous rates which is troublesome. But unlike a convicted felon, ICE detainees may not have had an opportunity to present their asylum or other claim yet.

I’m trying remember what inmates in the State DOC made an hour. Well first I think if they are in programs like D&A treatment I think it’s .10 a day.So that is not an actual job. It goes up to .50+ hour for a real job. Where I retired from has actual trade school for ie: learning to be a barber etc.

They are in no hurry to release detainees (whether to a deportation plane or within the country) because they get paid per day. The employees there just shuffle the detainees around without working with ICE to resolve their cases
