NEW: A prison-owned chemical company in China brazenly offered dangerous drugs to U.S. and Mexican customers — boasting that “100% of our shipments will clear customs” — a congressional probe and records obtained by ProPublica show.

“In the early 19th century, Britain flooded China with opium, fueling widespread addiction and draining the empire’s silver reserves. When the Qing government attempted to halt the trade, Britain retaliated with military force, resulting in two wars (1839–1842, 1856–1860).”
I am impressed that it is always someone else's fault, they point to China and forget to realize that the same thing is not happening in other countries. Why?
At some point you need to quit blaming someone else. If the citizens of the USA weren't such great customers there would be no demand. Supply and Demand people...no demand no need for the supply.
there are ZERO corps in america that recieve ZERO dollars from the US government to do our bidding in a number of ways. But they are NEVER refered to as 'state backed' or 'governement run'
yall are supposed to be better than the rags, sad to see yall are a racist as trump https://bsky.app/profile/t0ussaint.bsky.social/post/3lngyv4mkec2b
A long & winding story that makes a clear case for China doing little to curb fentanyl flooding the US, and worse, often incentivizing the flow into US & Mexico.
THIS feels like a real problem for trade talks between US and China.
then all can blame the host as the exchange students Lab from Boston spred the rotten bat shit in local fish market ,with the very first dose that spreads by sneeze and breathing dropplets
Guess it’s our turn to have a “century of humiliation” just like the British and Americans did to the Chinese with the opium wars back in the 19th century…
Uhmn,…for some unknown reason China’s similarly aggressive promotion of Cyanide has not met the expected commercial success.
They are understandably perplexed!
Why does this story show up, now? I tend to trust ProPublica's research/journalism. It seems this problem spans administrations. Makes it seem like China is clearly responsible for something bad. Gives cred to Trump's argument for tariffs. How do we stop the market (addiction)?
