I will also say, and this isn't just a #PTBO issue, but the claim you can just put these types of projects elsewhere implies there's some perfect location with no neighbours where everything will be fine. And there isn't, these types of projects are going to be close to somebody.

But we saw what living next to the tent city was like for neighbours, and it was horrible. Having a more structured living scenario will definitely help, including positive relations between neighbours and management.

That's not actually what the complaints were about -- it was about process, Strong Mayor's Powers, meeting notices and much more. This project is the tip of a much larger issue at city hall. Why did a developer go direct to the mayor and request the use of Strong Mayor's Powers? It all stinks.

Because our city council has proven ineffective at actually moving housing forward. I don't like the strong mayor powers, they mega stink, but if it means we actually get effective solutions to affordable housing for the people who desperately need it, I'll reluctantly agree with it for now.

PS that the neighborhood has said that they would likely have supported this development in the same way they supported Cameron House. But they did not see the plans until last Thursday. There is zero process and communication required with SMP. And there are many complaints being filed about mtg.
