Glad this got approved despite opposition from neighbours. I do feel sorry for them, there will be impacts of living next to a community with high needs, but this type of triage housing for chronically unhoused people is desperately needed.

I fundamentally disagree with the Strong Mayor Powers. They're clearly designed for those politically aligned with Ford to push his developer-friendly agenda. However, if you're going to use them, then this is how it should be used. It's about time.

If we stalled every affordable or transitional housing project because the neighbours hated it, nothing would ever get built. Despite what some city councillors may think, you can't build it at the edge of the city where it won't offend anyone. People are GOING to live next to them.

City of #PTBO, as a former downtown beat reporter, I can safely say nothing has prevented the downtown from flourishing and killed more events than the city's liability insurance requirements. Genuinely, if these requirements would loosen and not tighten, downtown would be SO much better.

I called public works to ask about the weird sidewalk plowing. Apparently the city only has 19 sidewalk plows, and priority is based on provincial legislation. So according to what I was told, the city doesn't have a say in what sidewalks get plowed in what order.
