Recent visit to England where in one small market town I found two fabulous fabric stores. One of stores footprint was small but it was floor to ceiling fabrics, notions and fabric arts supplies. At half the size they had more than one Joann store.
I refuse to shop at Hobby Lobby, and Michael's has an extremely limited selection of fabrics. I guess it's a good thing I've got a stash of fabrics to last until I find another source.
That is such bad news for people who do DIY and crafts. I once sewed and now patterns are no longer available. Now we are forced to buy what is sold in stores. Kids won't have the opportunity to learn to do basic things like sewing and knitting which my generation grew up with.
There’s never been so many patterns, in so many different sizes and styles. The sewing community is thriving with small businesses owned by women, selling quality fabrics and patterns over the internet. So many fitting tutorials on YouTube. It’s never been easier to learn to sew.
I am used to the patters from the past and don't know how to use the patterns that are now available. I will have to search and see what you are talking about. Thanks.
They all come with extensive booklets, videos, and photo tutorials. If you sew big4, you can see anything, cause their instructions are so sparse. The hardest part is to find the style you want because there’s too much to sift through.
That's SO sad. We have 2 stores in town and one has already started their going out of biz sales. Thought the other was staying open. I won't shop Hobby Lobby (no way) and Michaels has been steadily going downhill. Maybe after the guy in the oval goes away something new will emerge. 🤞
Read the article to see if hedge fund was mentioned, of course not. Always blaming supply and cost pressures (which are real) but never the drain hedge funds always bring
They've added a small selection of quilting fabric, but they don't have the range of apparel, decor, specialty, and cheap "novelty" fabric that Joann has. Yeah they have Kona cotton but I'm not upholstering a chair or making a Halloween costume from that.

15 years is a long time to survive after a private equity buyout. I’m kinda impressed.
I'm begging of you please don't close my store
