I learnt in college in education science that's the reason why English speaking kids use more time (average: 2 years) to master their language than latin-based speaking kids.

I've seen native English speakers write an entire essay length paragraph and oh my God my brain hurts.

I also accept the regionalisms and colloquialisms that English speakers have, e.g. "out of pocket" in my neck of the woods means you've lost money, not that you're unreachable.

I have no idea anymore when I read I sign with "push" or "puxe", I have forgotten even in my mother tongue what it means
i always have to remember simple alternatives to avoid using difficult words, thus limiting my vocabulary.
