Shadow of the Beast. Psygnosis, Ocean, 1990. I never knew there was a #C64 release for years. I am most familiar with the #Amiga version. Fantastic raw sid sounds.ππΆ #Commodore #C64

Wow, they even managed to fit the original's spectacular parallax scrolling on this C64 port! If anything, I'd argue that this is even MORE impressive considering that its on much weaker hardware.
DMS Design did this port and they did a surprisingly good job. They also handled the PC Engine CD port, which is the best version of the game to play since they tweaked and rebalanced the game to not be a complete nightmare.
I think there was only a cartridge offering for this. I'm really struggling to understand how they pulled that multilayered parallax scrolling off, I know it involves multiplexed sprites and raster triggered variable horizontal scroll, but still in awe

I didn't know they did ports as well as their own stuff.
Sprite collision handling actually looks much better than the Amiga version.
There is a scene floppy release too taken from the cart.
PCe CD had the best version and was actually playable so even better than the Amiga. Impressive for a 8bit CPU based console
