These petitions are useless for promoting action in Westminster, but they do give politicians a good insight into the depth of feeling regarding certain issues.

Not useless, but certainly not automatic or immediate response. This will be the first faced by a Labour government of course.

Wanting change but not doing anything about it is the only truly useless thing.
