One of my earliest memories is being on the train to Manchester (he was taking me to see Utd) with my Dad, going through Rotherham & Sheffield passing by the huge steel mills and seeing glimpses of the fire and sparks inside.

Fascinating and frightening.

Then through the tunnels into the Peaks.

Interesting programme last night on BBC about photographers inc a 40 yr old clip of Don McCullin taking shots of the countryside near his home - he insisted it be cloudy, didn't like the sunshine !
