Bear in mind that the Director, Lee Shulman, is Parr’s friend and a great admirer of his work so don’t expect any serious examination of the work. Those who like Parr will love this documentary, those who hate him will probably be incensed by it. I found it very interesting regardless.

Whenever it's easier to consume from here in Japan, I'll give it a look. But I'm in the latter category. Don't hate the man or his work. Hate is such a strong word that is much overused these days. But everything of his post 1982/83 just feels like he's owner/curator of a Victorian freak show.

The best part of the documentary is the section on his early work in black and white, good quality documentary photography. It’s a shame he abandoned that aspect of his work completely.
