This is tactically wrong given Trump’s unpopularity in the UK, but it’s also substantively wrong because what, exactly, does Kemi Badenoch want to cut? It’s all very well staying the state does too much but you need some sort of articulation as to what it should stop doing.

"I don’t even think DOGE is radical enough", says Kemi Badenoch, in an interview at the ARC conference. Someone in CCHQ clearly believes that yoking the Conservatives to the actions of Donald Trump will be an election winner. I'm not so sure.
