I don't know why I often use pre-emoji emoticons, it's sort of a gimmick, sort of a tic, but also, possibly because I grew up on the pre-emoji internet, I feel more/different emotion in :D vs 😁and in <3 vs ❤️.

It's just easier, y'know?

I can make a punctuation emoticon with a couple of keystrokes, vs needing to pull up the emojis and choose one. (There's probably a faster way, but that would require me learning it)
