Not sure where you're getting those demographics. The majority of catholics are White and older. 1/3 have a college degree. They are also geographically dispersed.

The 5 countries with the largest Catholic populations, in order of number of individuals, are Brazil, Mexico, Philippines, USA, and Congo. It is not a mostly white religion. Yes and the trad catholic contingent is ver scary. He has rebuked them and done more to welcome the lgbt community than any other pope. The possibility of a right wing pope is scary.
