Labour have a huge majority. They should be using it, setting their own agenda and getting stuff done. Not fighting a retreat to the right ahead of an election which is years away.
But that's *such* silver lining thinking that I think I might be being delusional.

“Save the (neoliberal) system” is the handmaiden to reform.
Military types speak of this often: There's no leadership people want. This is a breakdown in command. People would rather sabotage than go along with it.
Caught in boundary changes we lost Afzal Khan who was a brilliant MP and very involved locally (after G Kaufman, also a fantastic MP), and had Andrew Gwynne imposed on us. He isn't seen in our neck of the woods at all, I think it's a bit too diverse for his tastes.
