I think people theorizing Trump will tire of answering to his billionaire buddy may be underestimating how much we don’t know about what Musk did to get him elected, on a bargain struck to keep him out of jail.

Fair point that we don’t know what will happen. But only one person in the Trump administration will be indispensable. Also we shouldn’t attribute special powers to Musk (should we?). Or is his special power compromising public officials?
Nah. Alot of what they all did was very grabass and a product of many many forces and funding (not entirely unlike Harris clawing back out of the abyss with that $1b)
This is a Hanlons Razor thing with a sundowning geriatric man who is surviving but cant do more than that any more.
Also important to remember, Trump has no interest in governing. I think he is happy to let him do all that work. Trump will be happy to play King, have people kiss his ring and show up to fancy parties. And of course commit crimes with immunity.
I think they overestimate how much Trump cares about anything related to the Presidency at this point except how it makes him rich and how it keeps him out of jail.
Also, this assumes that Trump will keep any promises to Elmo, despite Trump's life-long history of breaking promises, reneging on contracts, stiffing vendors, and other numerous and sundry acts of cheating, lying, stealing, and fraud. There may be danger for Musk to fly to close to the orange sun.
Perhaps, but now that he was elected, Trump no longer needs Musk to protect him; he's got the power of the presidency - and presidential immunity, thanks to the supreme court - to protect him. Trump could really screw with him, given Musk's dependence on US gov't contracts and subsidies.
Never trust Trump to abide by his side of a deal. Once he's President, with immunity and the other two branches in agreement that he should be able to do whatever he wants, what leverage could Elon have to force Trump to keep his side of a bargain?
I was wondering the same. Like, why is he still hawking products (e.g. bibles) if he is getting all this money for this transition? To me, that's a "tell" that he's in difficult straits.
Musk is known to have been having conversations with Putin prior to the election. Trump was then publicly warned to keep his end of the bargain after receiving assistance from (heavily implied) the Russian government to win. The dots connect themselves.
It’ll be interesting to see how much the SCOTUS goes for President Elon. He’s got a case itching its way up there. Surely someone will take this DOGE legitimacy to them as well. He’s gonna have to buy them off too. They demolished bribery laws for justices just in time too.
Yeah, but what has Musk done for Trump *lately* (i.e., today)? Because Trump is not known for his loyalty, his integrity, or his paying of his debts. And he IS known for his narcissistic need to be the biggest dog.
Trump’s not exactly known for keeping his word. I’m guessing the narcissistic injury from Elon getting so much attention will become intolerable at some point.
Everyone's assuming Trump is now and will remain cognizant.
But what if Elon has lucked out and inserted himself at just the right time to remain the puppet master as Trump's cognitive decline renders him unable to respond?
The muskrat invested over 200 million $ in the election and probably paid off orangina's legal bills. Maybe elon gets to play president until the inauguration 🙅♀️

Elon controls with MONEY
Trump controls with BULLYING
... at the end of the day, lawmakers care more about MONEY/PRIMARIES than childish insults.

If *that* ship was gonna sail, it would be way the hell out of port by now, based on known quantities and tolerances.
