The idea that the federal government can go before a judge and say, “Yeah we arrested the wrong guy, but too bad, so sad” is not alarming nearly enough people yet.

I'm more than alarmed -- horrified, disgusted. This is why Trump didn't put people through due process, so he can send whoever he wants wherever. And who's next? Democrats? Old people?
This is a moral line in the sand—between democracy and dictatorship. In the House, they are deciding if they should give him unchecked powers (NORRA). He would be our dictator.
Abducted, not arrested, arrested affords a trial to charges imposed. They abducted, put them on an illegal flight, sent them to another country, had them put them in a prison to do as they will, and be lost for whatever amount is the rest of their life forever where their death might never be known.
It’s alarming but I think many people are resigned to the fact that nobody is going to stop this. The day the Felon was allowed to leave the White House and not get arrested said it all.
The only way it'd bother folks is if an entire few train cars worth of regular bum-fuck-ass White-Anglo-Saxon-Protestant types got wrongfully arrested.
*And more importantly* got talked about for a full week non-stop by all the media.
People excited about this do not understand how steep the slippery slope of human rights abuse is and how easily anyone can become one of those prisoners.
They are wrong on their legal obligation. They are being both deliberately obtuse on the law and rudely just saying "fuck you" to the judge to see how much they can get away with. This smacks very much of Stephen Miller's hatefulness.
One senses that none of these judges wants to be the one to hold someone over for contempt and be ignored. But it's better for us to know sooner rather than later. Every day helps them consolidate power.
The various court cases are moving towards a crunch point where either the judiciary uses all its powers to take physical action against contemners, or slinks away forever with its tail between its legs.
And Judge Xinis’ case is likely going to end up entangled with Boasberg’s.
If it’s /impossible/ to return Garcia then the Admin certainly lied to Boasberg a few hearings back.
My fear though is that these things won’t quite make it to the line before the courts get hobbled.
The administration has ignored ruling before I will be surprised if they comply now. Homan, Gabbard and Bondi should all be held in contempt even if it is only symbolic
Or the woman who was kidnapped off the street by masked and plain closed thugs. They are flooding the zone and it's almost impossible to keep the right level of alarm for all of it.
Maybe so
I’ve been going to her for a few years
She is good on stuff related to my primary mental health stuff
But she downplays my concerns about real things happening cuz she knows I struggle with anxiety
But honestly it’s more anxiety producing when ppl downplay real atrocities
I think people don’t really know how to deal with this. So either they don’t, or they downplay it. Because in what universe can a random person just be picked up and deported? In what cold, cruel universe does that happen?
Yeah, the inability to retrieve people sent is a whole new level of incompetence.
And like- any person who is thinking “they have no reason to grab me,” seems to have missed the point. They also did not have any reason to grab the guy they took either.
They CAN retrieve them, but they don't WANT to. Think about what those people will say to the media if they are brought back. The racist Trump admin doesn't see innocent or guilty, they see non-white which is the biggest sin of all.
when Signal chat pushed this off the newscycle i was astonished at how quickly a planeload of over 200 people yanked off the streets and sent to hellhole torture camp could just disappear off the radar....
I would suggest it is alarming our government is sending anyone to a gulag without due process is the problem, regardless who they are or what circumstances involved.
I hope people will crosswalk this to what has been happening in the U.S. to Black people who “fit the profile” for generations, cause the difference is just the people to whom lt is happening.😶
Bro, we can’t upset the delicate relations with the el Salvadoran gulag state. Who else will handle our extrajudicial renditions? We don’t have many allies left!
Hi! I’m going crazy over here too. I am being treated for anal cancer & it’s painful. I am the President of the Democratic Party in my town and I can’t even go to the protest today. I’m champing at the bit here!!!!
I am so sorry to hear you are going through that. I can only imagine how painful it must be. Best wishes to you!!
I have a cousin who went through all that several years ago and I am happy to say she is doing quite well now.
EVERYONE speaking up that this wrong!
CALLING YOUR SENATOR, CONGRESSMAN, ATTORNEY GENERAL, YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL, YOUR GOVENOR
Tell everyone it is wrong.
NO PRISON WITHOUT A FAIR TRIAL
If this is not stopped anyone can be imprisoned without a trial and never let out. Meaning you and me!
I always felt when Trump started to operate outside of the law and the constitution, the rubicon would be crossed and there would be no turning back.
Hope I am wrong.
It absolutely haunts me. How is this not enough to start impeachment proceedings against the president? I cannot begin to imagine what he and his family are going through 😥
YEP ... they're hangin' on for dear life just to not face the truth of what's truly going on ... head in the sand as per usual. I keep hearing we have to educate those nay sayers ... sorry/not sorry that ship has already sailed in my "neighborhood" ... my energy is on the victims, not the dumb $#&%!
The more often you use FREE KILMAR! in every social media post, on every platform, every day, the sooner it will start to sink into people's heads. Messaging needs to be consistent and constant. That's how MAGA does it. We need to do the same.
The fact that the USA, who ostensibly decries human rights abuses, would send ANYONE to that hellhole should be alarming enough, let alone ignoring an order to not report him to El Salvador, and another order by refusing to make ONE PHONE CALL to free the man they essentially put in slavery.
People who, absolutely, in no uncertain terms, are okay with what he would have to say. If there is recourse to bring one back, the possibility exists for all. (And due to myriad violation of many rights along with grid incompetence, they ALL should be returned. They want silence & fear.
investigators/journalists found out that at least three of the people sent to that slave camp had no criminal records in the united states or their country of origin, on top of having immigrated legally, I wonder how many of the others are also innocent and or even actual united states citizens
They are flooding the zone on purpose and people can only fight so many battles at one time
Also for someone who is not in legal field what exactly are your expectations for what citizens can do, other than call your Senator / HoR Rep
If America's problem was one man, some bold patriot would have fixed it by now. The problem is the sizable cohort of Americans who do not think any of this is problematic.
Yes this right here
I made a post previously that I am ashamed that friends and relatives I have (had) - due to their sharp right turn, I would not have trusted with the whereabouts of Anne Frank’s family - just saying
The one (and only one) silver lining to economic hardship is that millions of Americans, many of whom never even voted in November, will start paying a lot more attention to all his other democracy destroying behavior. A public outcry over the economy could thwart his other plans.
Right? "We arrested the wrong guy, but there's nothing we can do about it because we've also already convicted and sentenced him".
This line is being used as _justification_ rather than _condemnation_ of the original act - it's completely backwards and insane.
When a government of the People, for the People, and by the People turns against the People, it's name is tyranny. We the People have a duty & an obligation to exercise our Rights & Liberty to overthrow those traitors, & abolish their tyranny by any means necessary. Revolution is the solution.
With no due process, how many others might there be wrongly imprisoned. Sending them to another country that has been richly rewarded for housing them, makes it all but impossible to process them. How long are they going to stay there before they are simply deported?
we have prided ourselves on our Constitution and our Judicial system. in under 90 days Trump and his Admin have thumbed their nose at the entire Constitution. the Repubs in Congress are complicit. Would they have let Bush had tried this? No, but okay now? Ceded all power to corrupt billionaires

1- A few train cars worth of WASP types
2- ALL of the media has to NON-STOP talk about it for a week.
Otherwise its something large chunks of the country won't even hear about.

But the progress is asymptotic.

“It’s one person outta how many millions”

There are plenty others I’m

She then acts like I’m being worried over nothing

I’ve been going to her for a few years

And seriously? Even if it was just one, then what? Let him rot?
And like- any person who is thinking “they have no reason to grab me,” seems to have missed the point. They also did not have any reason to grab the guy they took either.
send him to the prison in exchange for our real patriot
It's almost like you should never trust the government.

People flooded the streets one day after this skeet.
But without due process it could easily happen.

Fixed it for you.

Those representatives should be fighting Trump for them, but they’re aiding and abetting the tyranny.

We're facing fascism and the vast majority of Democrats are still in denial along with the media
