A new study found that the British Empire's colonialism caused approximately 165 million deaths in India from 1880 to 1920. While the British stole $45tn in just over 200 years.
This is what the empire was really like, starvation.

How can people still accept honours given in the name of the British Empire?
Has that 45 trillion gone into developing the country we can only wonder how much better life there would be for most
I feel no shame for the actions of others wholly outside of my control or influence.

Cruelty, sadism, violence, all those nasty words apply to the British Empire. Pure misery has been left in its wake. The National trust owns a bulk of the houses that were acquired through the money, jewels, slavery etc. stolen from the Empire.

Question. If Musk/Trump want to bring in tens of thousands of Indian workers (willing to work for $4 a day), isn't this just a simple reinvention of the nations earlier American slave trade?
The British Empire owes a huge amount in reparation to all of the countries that they razed and pillaged.
And this is the Great Btitain that the Brexiteers want back.
I raise a glass to your suggestion of where the reckoning should start 🥂
Ahhh, espera… 🤔

But one can't look at what others have done as some semblance of a method to show "we're not the only criminals out there". One can (or should) only account for their own actions.
Shipped crops out of the island while native Irish starved
The soldiers who took part in the massacre were 54th Sikhs and 9th Gurkha rifles. No Irish regiments were involved as far as I am aware.
Makes for uncomfortable reading.
But worth it.
