WHAT??? That is sick. Of course health workers at hospitals shouldn´t have to pay for parking. Here in Germany, at hospitals/clinics parking places are reserved for the staff, from the nurse or the cleaning stuff to the chief doctor or director.
Glad to hear that! When I moved to Somerset I was gobsmacked to discover that prescription charges are over £9 per item!! Per fkn item! I'm almost glad I've got epilepsy so I get exemption. I met a woman last week afraid to report her condition to her doctor because she can't afford to pay it
Nobody goes to the hospital for fun. Having to pay for hospital parking has always been one of the most ridiculous ways to kick people when they are down and the people who want to help them that I have ever seen.
Free parking as long as it’s recognized as a quantifiable benefit and employees have option of cashing out if they choose to get to work by other means.
In 🏴 they don’t nor do visitors. Let us roll with our values…. 🏴🏴 break the chains ⛓️💥 ⛓️💥 we really are a different country ✊✊#ScottishIndependence
Fuck me! The fact that this is even a question, just proves how propaganda can fuck peoples heads up. Corrupt MPs get free everything ffs 🤦 it’s not even that hard to see what is going on when you can see it. 🤔🧐🥳
Bus routes complement train routes in a good joined up transport system. Buses can be far more flexible than trains (scale, routing). They - allow people to potentially be dropped much closer to their destination, and are cheaper.
At best I would support this only for electric powered cars. Just ban cars from hospitals altogether. Car pollution puts the NHS under so much pressure. Don't try giving me hyperbole examples to justify supporting free parking. 99% of staff parking is choice and not necessary.
While I would agree, at the moment, patients can't get parked at hospitals because of the volume of traffic parking all day. It takes almost 30 minutes to an hour to get parked at Ninewells in Dundee. Queues form and people get trapped in them.
Only in England, it seems.
I knew we didn't charge in Scotland and it seems not in Wales either. Northern Ireland is in the midst of prohibiting them as well.
Currently talks to increase parking charges in NHS trust I work for. Bands 6 and 7 aren't happy that 1-2-3 don't pay. They want it, a fair across the board. Was suggested x amount for 3 lower bands, approximately 0.1% . Great idea, so bands 6 and 7 pay a lot more. Idea thrown out not fair on them
Not in Scotland, because we have an SNP run government.
I've also just read there are no charges in Wales either. Those in England like being ripped off I guess.
Well, if you're thinking of emigrating, Scotland has the most progressive government (and attitude in general) in the UK. However, Ireland is in the EU and that is a huge plus point.

Free parking at work will be considered a perk Trump/repubs will want to tax - so they can pay for the tax break they intend to pass for their rich friends
They will also have to make up the deficit in taxes immigrants currently pay, once deported it will be a tax loss. 10,000 deported so far 🤷♀️
I agree and disagree
Take the RVH Belfast some people are using the hospital car park to park for work in the area. This takes up parking for those wanting to use or visit the hospital. Staff and Visitors should be able to get a pass from the ward for free parking. All other Parkers pay in full
Totally agree, MP’s get free parking, free alcohol in the commons bar, heavily discounted meals, travel expenses, home/office expenses, basically a big wage and more claims than self employed people do.
This started before I retired from Nursing, they (The NHS trust) even issued parking tickets if you used anything other than a staff area. If you were late because you couldn't find a space they'd hassle you about. This is how the NHS treats it's staff, like shit ......... #nhs
Hospital staff and visitors pay £0.00 to park in Scotlands hospitals thanks to the SNP Scottish Government
They even bought out Labour PFI car parks to make this happen. Money that could have been used elsewhere if we were not lumbered with Labour and Tory PFI bills
Staff are not supposed to use the car parks. There are often systems of ticketing in place to prevent cars sitting for over 4 hours. It causes long queues for car parks, certainly at Ninewells Dundee. The streets around are choc a block full of parked cars.
There's specified parking at ninewells for staff and permit holders, the issue is, the parking facilities are not large enough to cope with the huge volume of staff and visitors.
Many hospitals are massive with thousands of staff. Having had to park in almost every UK hospital I agree ninewells is a pain but would you rather this 👇
I assume you have no mobility issues, have never worked on calls, never done overtime to manage an over running list, are happy to use public transport at the end of a late shift etc etc

Like fuck!!!!!
Public sector staff are being rinsed again.
(But also I agree)

Both are needed. It’s horses for courses.
You'd honestly rather catch a bus than a tram if a tram were an option!?

Need you back.
That is all.
Offer incentives to staff to travel in other ways - subsidised public transport, bike schemes….
I think I have been in France too long
