Scrapping NHS England is not getting to root cause of inefficiency in the health service. That lies with the Clinical Commissioning Groups (also born in 2012) where members can have vested financial interests in suppliers of goods and services and zero incentive to cut costs

Was also a good way of keeping the blame for disastrous policies away from government ministers. The NHS trusts were the first line for reporters to go to and when they couldn't answer, there was NHS England. Rarely was there ministerial accountability.

Scrapping NHSE may have merits, but halting privatisation is not one of them. The vast majority of commissioning is done by ICBs, which will be cut by 50% but will still be required to work within the current procurement framework. This is not a step away form privatisation, sadly
