I also felt the same way at first. It's only been a week for me but the loss quickly dissipates as you realize the relief and camaraderie here is endless. β€οΈ
Dumped X last week. Instagram and Facebook accounts deleted today. My final Facebook straw was a post defending Hegseth's tattoo. Don't worry about the alleged sexual assault, bigotry, or defense of straight up murderers... As long as his tattoo is a Christian symbol.
I did have quite a system over there, I had my list of 'people worth following', my list of virologists who are competent, my list of climate scientists who are accurate, and nuclear energy and war pros. There's a way to migrate the accounts you follow which I didn't attempt.

The feeling of loss will only last as long as it takes your mind to realize that you donβt have to experience mental trauma from trolls and bots every time you get on social media. Then the loss will become relief and you will happily block the bullies and most people on Bluesky will cheer you on.
I understand. There are a few accounts that I don't want to leave. So, I'm trying to give them a little time to come here. Don't think much longer though ...
As a society weβre going to collectively have to come to terms with our unhealthy relationships with social media but cutting that toxic vice out of your life is a shiny gold star every day of the week

I asked to work from home February 2020. Was denied.
Six weeks later we were all WFH.
