Great works don't arrive fully formed. They limp onto the page, bleeding and broken from poor word choice and half-baked ideas. But nobody sees that version. They see the one that has been patched up, rebuilt, chiseled, shaped, and molded. And that version readers will assume came out fully formed.

But I've never read a script or heard someone read a script and then had to ask how long it took to write before deciding if it was good or not
