I still need to sew the entire tail closed from the outside which will be interesting but I managed to get the body to be roughly the right shape without too many bits bunching up.
When I stuffed it last night I realised that even after I'd completely changed the shape of the belly piece, halving the width of it, if I wanted to keep the legs from splaying out to the sides I was going to have to add a pleat or tuck down the belly.
Also, that trying to sew the entire tail shut from the outside would be a fucking nightmare. So I took a huge risk.
I unstuffed it, turned it inside-out again and finished sewing the tail that way so that the entire thing was inside out with no seam left open to turn it right-side-out.
Here's the original pattern piece next to the one I designed.
When I'd finished sewing the pieces together, I cut down the centre of the belly (the line in black here) and used that new opening to turn the jegosaurus right-side-out again.

I don't use a sewing machine. Me and sewing machines don't get on. Just sewing the ovals onto the bottom of each leg took 2 hours this evening.
