The plot of Nosferatu really clicked for me when I accepted Orlok as a metaphor for Ellen’s depression & childhood trauma. The darkness comes back & stops you from feeling happy & loved until you eventually succumb to it. It’s more comfortable to embrace it than fight it. It’s a constant familiar.
