any thoughts on calcium infusions for refractory shock with hypocalcemia iCa <0.8?
I think dose probably matters a lot (bombing patients with huge intermittent boluses may not help)
there's no good human data on controlled, low-dose Ca gtts
I've had cases where this seemed to help a lot🤷♂️

CCB OD it can be magic and save lives.
But, why calcium gluconate not CaCl?
I’d talk to pharmacy but I feel like we use CaCl more.
I’ve used on more normal iCal and felt I’ve seen results too. Anything magic about 0..8?

(I've also heard about it as a "get your patient to the OR alive" thing, don't know about continous infusion though)
At the end of the day, refractory shock means you pull out all stops anyway, so...
Observational data links lower dialysate calcium with intradialytic hypotension, though this has not been rigorously tested as an intervention
