If the kid’s watching in broadcast or production order, the 1st bunch of eps have a lot of horny in them, but they start spacing out the horny ones later, ending the season with the completely un-horny “Immunity Syndrome” (unless you think there’s something else to the tension between Spock & McCoy)
For some reason that reminds me of a story Roddenberry told at conventions in the 70s.
Rod: I wanted sexual equality; a 50/50 male/female crew. The network said that was too suggestive. We haggled and eventually got a 70/30 crew. Well, I figured 30% females ought to be able to perform adequately!
I honestly think there is something to this - think TMP novelization and the first season of TNG. My take is that the other Gene was less interesting it that and the eps got more varied as a result.
I have noticed that too. Roddenberry has a strong sex drive and from what I could read, Majel let him have sex with anyone he could get. And that drive influenced Star Trek.
You would get some new alien with a new quirky kink, then never hear about it again. 🤷♂️
I literally just started a rewatch last week, and had forgotten the sexist nonsense and (my favorite) awful dialogue about “Space Captain Dominguez’ chili peppers.”
