A guy named Kannon is why we had scanned photocopies of the last/lost vol, used in the video I saw too, & I had the others scanned for decades, I just had a hard time getting the last vol's to make real scans of and put them all together for a better online version. (I also got the color pages) 2/2

Adding ending spoiler not in that video: That's the one I saw. So they son't say this in the video and got it wrong in the comments when people asked: This is how it ends. The Triforce gets thrown into the once-lava lake, the river beast/salamander that died in it (while head-butting Ganon,) 3/2

comes out of it and picks up the flute, and then in the last shot we see is profile bowing to Princess Zelda's profile against the lake, because the Triforce brought them both back. So there is more of an ending than that video shows. (But not more than the actual pages.) 4/2

I love how, at the end of this AoL manga, all of Ganon's minions turn back into what they were. Little animals, pigs, dogs, other humans. It reminds me of the transformative Sacred Realm/Dark World power from LttP. I like that idea more than them just being puffs of smoke Ganon summons as an army

Did Link know they were innocent people? Did he kill any of them?

It would be tidy, story-wise, to get rid of an evil army AND save a bunch of people at the same time, but horrific if the hero realizes they killed a bunch of people.

Like Super Mario Bros.'s story about Toads turning into bricks.

I don't think he knew, bc we didn't, but he did have to kill a friend for his quest so I think he would. These volumes are really dark for how they look. After he kills his friend he has a pretty bad episode where he questions himself & his duty, and my take is he confirms with himself he did the right thing (it's kind of a "defeated the desires of the one-ring" thing, like "it was hard but he shouldn't waiver") https://historyofhyrule.com/publications/manga_aol_1/157.html

It's funny cause I dont thiiiink game Zelda established people turning into monsters until ALttP too (but could be wrong, and the concept is common in myths anyhow)

Afaik in basic Zelda game lore its still a thing to this day that people and animals can become monsters like that though 🤔

Yeah it's so interesting, and forever frustrating (but more in a fun way than a bad way,) to not know if all the things that seem like firsts in this are because devs read it or just because they are natural paths for stories to take in this kind of world. (I can't help but feel it's a mix of both.)
