Functionally speaking, what is the difference between this and Flashes? I realize one is affiliated with Bluesky and the other is not, just trying to tease out the differences in form/function

No idea, sorry! I don't think either Flashes or Pinksky is affiliated with Bluesky FWIW, Flashes is by @seabass.bsky.social (creator of @skeetsapp.com, a third-party client) and I have no idea who's working on @pinksky.app.

In terms of function, Pinksky effectively works as a Bluesky media viewer, though it seems you can also create posts that are specifically for Pinksky (there's apparently a new option that hides non-Pinksky posts). There's also what appears to be an ephemeral posting feature; it's really cool.
