General question - I know it is early days, but what are the seminal papers about GenAI in education so far? (Everyone is having a crack at it - what has cut through?) #ASCILITE2024

I only ask because I have two spinning wheels at my parents' place, and while I did just mow the lawn, I didn't make it down the side of the house so pretty sure there's a whole harvest to be had...
Not sure about seminal, but this primary research, as opposed to a lot of opinion papers, from Wharton Business School is interesting - 'Generative AI Can Harm Learning'. #ASCILITE2024 https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4895486
I agree w/you Doug. Employers reward the process w/wages. The end result may sink or swim. Knowing which step to take & when to step is crucial. AI is somewhat trained on when to step, but only when the input algorithm tells it so. Humans have the spark of ingenuity & the ability to pivot quickly.
I'll be referring to this one a lot, from the usual suspects.
