A2 Probably my favorite is making Raas sticks in art and tying it into learning about Diwali holiday, making rangoli in technology to build our own coloring book, & using our Raas sticks to actually do the dance in the library! Plus I got to wear my wedding skirt! #tlskychat #SchoolLibraryLife

A profile in courage.

A4 I’ve found a LOT of success in working with the other specials teams. Art and music are usually game and it makes planning half the effort! Often I might read something and start research but in art, technology, music, world language, and even gym they might build on the knowledge!

Thank you, @quintabrunson.bsky.social for addressing book bans on #abbottelementary! (But the cold open was a knife to the heart. “Oldies” 🫣😂).

My plane is landing. Thank you so much for allowing me to crash your timelines for a bit. This was the perfect way to advocate airborne, a true SkyChat!😂 #TLSkyChat

I cosign this x 100! #TLSkyChat

Thank you!! #TLSkyChat

A6: Nic Blake & the Remarkables by Angie Thomas. The story line combines history, magic, afro-futurism, technology, author's craft, student agency and the innocence of wanting to have a hellhound as a pet! 😆 #TLSkyChat

Girl! I wrote a whole thesis in college about how this song was a modern (at the time) epic poem on par with The Odyssey! #TLSkyChat www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFX3...

A5: "Escapade" by Janet Jackson. Escapades are all about exciting and daring adventures! Bringing that joy via a book, tech or an author visit, it's all an es-ca-pade! 😍 #TLSkyChat

Ya I actually created a menu some of the things that I could do to collaborate and actually gave it to the teachers. I had a lot of the issues of teachers not knowing exactly what I bring to the table. Here is the one I did for my current position. www.canva.com/design/DAEux... #TLSKyChat

Just looked it up amzn.to/4kpbYAJ I definitely need to get that book. #TLSkyChat

Love that....anytime we can decorate those drab hallways is a win. Having the students represented. If you really think about how much the Ss are in the hallways it is such a great opportunity. #TLSkyChat

Yes! Hitching your wagon to a trend is always a great idea! I did something similar with The Hunger Games back in the day. #TLSkyChat

A4: Create a cross-curricular escape room/school adventures where traveling to different classes or virtually connecting (to minimize disruptions) to solve clues. Content teachers give hints/strategies. #TLSkyChat

A3: Junteenth is one of my fav holidays. I'm a TX girl & was so glad when it became a national holiday. Alice Faye Duncan's book Opal Lee recounts the story beautifully. Combined w/an interactive art mosaic would be spectacular! #TLSkyChat

A2: Another fun lesson, creating a BHM forest of trees in our main hallway w/QR coded leaves that led to a 30 sec student video of their research on the notable figure. #TLSkyChat

A2: When everything Harry Potter was all the rage, I started an HP STEAM club out of the library. We had the most fun w/HP cookbooks and creating drinkable potions, complete w/quirky names & spells. #TLSkyChat

And right there is why Librarians are just the bestest. #TLSkyChat

They try to silence us, hold us back, and strip away our rights, but women always fight back. This #WomensHistoryMonth, we’re doubling down, because when women lead, we all move forward.

Y'all my dream participation in #SXSWEdu as a speaker is a dream deferred. 😮‍💨The plane couldn't land in Austin due to high winds & landed in Houston (my hometown), but I can't get off the plane to grab a bite to eat b/c if we get the "all clear" they're taking off. Pray for this hangry librarian.💔

My 73-y-o mother, who has never participated in a protest or joined community organizing before: - Joined her local library's board (she's a retired school librarian) - Attended the Indivisible organizing meeting last Wed in C'wood, NJ, that attracted >550 people as covered by @maddow.msnbc.com 🧵
