I wonder why don't they just store a list for now and let them have the first choice of purchase when the actual stock came in. Just that they don't purchase, only registered interest.
Waited at my GameStop for two hours. Had a numbered ticket. Employee told us we could leave and come back, so I took my kid home and came back. Came back & the manager yelled at me for leaving line.
Said my unit was no longer available, even though they had an exact number of tickets to hand out 🤔
Probably, but the appeal of getting one at launch, at least outside of games is getting it at a psuedo stable price, because there's always a chance of the price raising. And I dunno about you but I don't like pissing money away because of fiscal instability.
Well thank you kindly. There's always direct invites from Nintendo, which are allegedly happening next month? I'd like to join the race with everyone else ngl
I think Valve did it perfectly with the Steam Deck. You pay a deposit of $/€5 and you wait in line to get an invitation to finish your purchase. You also had to have made a recent purchase on Steam. Scalping was next to impossible.
I was super gutted when I missed out on the online preorders at first, but when I went to GameStop in-store, I was AMAZED to see that they still had some left for preordering so I went ahead and preordered my Mario Kart World bundle.
And best of all, the store didn't have a big crowd at that time!
Looking at the tracker, it seems like there are still lots available in-store in Canada. I got my pre-order in store and I overheard the manager on the phone telling someone that they had a long line but if they wanted to come and get a pre-order, they'd definitely still have one for them.
I finally got a confirmation email so it seems my order went through. Still not showing up properly on credit card charge, but seems everything is in order.
If you look at "Status: Awaiting product availability" on the order details page there's a little "i" button you can hover over that will tell you that "Payment will Process a week before Ship Date".
In-store is definitely the move. I preordered my first Switch from GameStop’s website and I had to wait all day to get it delivered, it sucked. Now that I preordered directly at the store I can walk right in on launch day and grab it, or go to the midnight event and get it. So excited

Let's be honest, if you are buying a switch 2, you don't care about how ethical a product is.
