😄 Not all of our birds are curious. Some can be extremely skittish. But emus are such characters! Especially the younger ones. I've had some fun encounters with them over the years.

Nice shot. I had to slow down at the end of my street the other morning on the way to work as some teenage emus were feeding on the verge, whilst dad stood in the middle of the road acting as lookout. They and the roos are often in town with the lack of rainfall.

Both I'd say. We've had record low rainfall for a 12 month period. Whyalla would normally get an average of 275mm annually (so we are officially semi-arid to start with), but for the last 12 months we've only had 153mm. Pelted down on Saturday for several minutes - we got 0.4mm.

Ah, I see! Thanks for the info. I’m sorry that climate change is such a threat to all of us and that our new government is going to be ignoring it. My heart went out to all the animals in AUS killed by the brush fires a few years ago. As a bird and warm weather lover, I hope to visit one day!
