Link rot may've hit your Day 7 regarding Declaration, or at any rate it goes to a broad page not a specific document. (I was able to find writing abt excised passage elsewhere.)

Many of the earlier local declarations had the line "resolve never to become slaves". Nat'l didn't even do that much.

Thank you! I've long wondered how the contradiction between the words of the Declaration of Independence and the continued existence of slavery was handled. Was it mostly just ignored in schoolbooks and newspapers?
