People cope that they choose a female character because they often have smaller hitboxes, just embrace the fact that you want to play virtual dress up and be cute. Fashion is always the end game

I have a friend who always plays female characters. He used to be defensive about it saying he’d rather look at a woman for 60 hours but it’s really because he loves strong women and the actresses usually do a better job. Like, drop the bro shit. But as a general rule: fashion > stats every time 💯
I’ll always pick Kassandra in AC Odyssey, because she is just the better of the two. The VA seems more alive in the recordings, the story feels like it works more naturally with her, and she is the cannon choice.
I prefer free roaming with Evie over Jacob in syndicate because her movement is better.
AC Odyssey is really hands down better with Cassandra. Great character design. She’s tall and athletic, doesn’t look emaciated or like she’s doing steroids. Great voice acting. The story makes way more sense with her as the protagonist as well
To an extent it does makes sense why they have the option for either story wise, but Kassandra just seems like the better version of the Eagle Bearer. Plus Alexios as Deimos does feel a lot stronger as a villain. Like he was designed by the cult. The VAs are awesome irl, the interviews of them rule
I play female characters cause imo they're more fun and generally actoss the board the outfits always look so much better on them than male characters.
Its nice to look at a nicely dressed attractive woman. That's my biggest reason. But also most of the time i enjoy the fantasy of a bad ass woman. Could be why Lara Croft is one of my favorite game character.
I've spent hours of my life on Destiny 2 watching my friends have literal fashion shows with armor pieces and shaders. The one friend I have that runs a female character says "I spend hours on this game looking at my character's ass. I'd rather look at hers." You can't argue with that logic.
Facts, it’s okay people, we know you prefer the female cosmetic options. We know that you may envision yourself as the character. It’s okay, this is a safe space bestie.
I play (older) female characters because I want to train my brain into seeing other versions of them than grannies.
Apparently, they're also murderous badass witches.
I need to know in what games where you can choose as male or female for same class/role whatever, that has it so that you have a differently sized hitbox based on what you pick. Never heard of there actually being a difference based on what you pick.
when i used to play gta online with my little brother and his friends, one of his friends (who was playing a guy) and i used to go to the clothes shops and have shopping sprees. it was a beautiful time. game fashion is peak fr
I have always gone with the principle that if I can't perfectly make myself then I'd rather have something I find attractive on screen for the whole game hence I often make female characters
I dont feel like you need to be a female character to play dress up. I did a ton of dress up in Elden Ring and Cyberpunk as either gender. Sometimes the coolest outfits dont work on my current character and I need to make another.
i personally play female characters when I cannot play someone who looks like me - tall, fat, and bearded, because the typical video game twink option for men is not something I identify with and yeah, I’d rather play dress up. But I play dress up with fat bearded guys when they let me
I’m a male I use female characters because I wanna be pretty!! Why use female characters for small hitboxes nah imma distract them with hotness. Plus female characters are pretty!!
Yeah tbh. I also tend to prefer making female characters in RPGs, cos when playing a male character I have to make an entire backstory and personality for them to roleplay them properly, otherwise it just feels like a self-insert. Female characters let me have that disconnect without full-on RP-ing.
I don't wear helmets in Elden Ring because I want to see my hair. How a character looks is a huge part of them feeling like they are connected to you. And no one wants a Elden Lord with helmet hair.
I like looking at a female character if it's a 3rd person game rather than a male character sometimes. Adds to the visual quality of the gaming experience, mhmm
I always choose to play female characters, am a man in real life already so I find it less interesting to ALSO play a man in a videogame.......and if am going to spend hours looking at the back of my character, then I rather look a a girls back 🤷♂️
As a straight male, I just want to play a cute girl. My wife, who is a bisexual woman, also just wants to play a cute girl. Women are so much better to look at.
This is possibly why. I never bought it the hitbox thing. Females have better create a character option, better hair styles, better looking less plain armor schematics (not just meaning "sexy") I figured I was just a feminist gamer. Also, some stories make more sense as a female lead an male
I choose female characters because they're always colorful and cute. Give male characters more color. My brain demands colors that aren't shades of black and brown.
I pick them because a fair amount of the time, the female character looks better and the VA did a better job than her male counterpart. Mass Effect for instance. I love Mark Meer's performance and MaleShep's look but Jennifer Hale and FemShep's look...
I will post all my femme toons that I regularly use in the games I play. The most masc characters I ever use are my Spartan armours in Halo. For the most part, femmes just look nice. Yeah IRL I pilot a masc body, but if I could on the fly swap like in Warframe, for sure I would.
I have never seeing someone that hasn't said either both of those points together or hasn't solely stated that if they are going to look at some character for a long time then it might as well be a cute character.
Do not forget the free gifts handed to you... I will never forget my wife and i's first day in world of warcraft... she was standing right next to me. Got handed 500g which was a lot of cash...
sometimes there’s differences like animations (WoW) or armor fitting “better” (Destiny 2), but sometimes you just wanna play as a chick. any dude afraid of that concept has some security issues to work through.
It's weird quirk of mine but on RPG's where I select from character templates, I usually pick a female character. When it's fully customizable, I usually pick male to create fantasy me. 🤷♂️
I’m a 6’4” broad shoulder dude in real life. Any time I’m given a choice I tend to play a female character because I’m already pretty vanilla in life. Why do I want to be the same thing in a game? Also the character is nicer to look at.
Were the hitboxes ever *actually* smaller? Like maybe for fighting games where the characters are completely different, but I can't imagine that flying in any other kind of competitive game
something like that but not a full on clown costume, i just use random clothing pieces whatever either brings me the best stats or i happen to like the most.
Totally depends on the game. In Titanfall, the smaller hit box on females was a legitimate advantage, but in most other games, if I choose a female character then it's because I think they're pretty. If I can customize my character then I will almost always make her a redhead like my partner.
Most of the time I pick female characters because I'm better at designing outfits for them. Maybe it was growing up with two older sisters, but I've always had an eye for cute outfits.
I usually play male characters. But i recently made an alt based on a lore character and yeah It's pretty fun. What i like best tho is that i can give people compliments without thinking i have ulterior motives. It's nice.
Maybe the fact that I was always more comfortable and found it easier to immerse myself when playing a female character should have been a hint to me earlier in life xD
Considering the nature of 3rd person games where the camera is usually place behind the player character, logic would dictate that if I want to maximize the amount of opportunities to look at sexy butts, I would pick a female avatar. 😘
I only play females for this reason alone. They have the best cosmetics. I've only ever played a male when my partner at the time was playing the same game and wanted to get married in game LOL
Absolutely,
I have been gaming since it began, 1977 and it's so cool that you can play who you want to be.
Admit it you all want to be a cute little girl 😍

But mostly i don't really think about it and just pick females because pretty.
The former makes you look weak, the latter two are peak authenticity, massive respect.
Apparently, they're also murderous badass witches.
People reroll classes in wow based on <1% sims.
It’s true it’s true
Yeah sure buddy, but maybe you should do a bit of introspection
I wanna be a big buff guy running around in a hello kitty dress
I did change my charactr in animal crossing tho, my bestie complained she wanted to see me in game, not her twice 🤭😅 so now im a pirate ingame.
Ye olde Cyberpunk quote ( not Cyberpunk 2020 / 2077 but the genre ).
I call Dragon's Dogma for Fashion's Dogma ^^
I haven’t seen a single person play DS and not Fashion-souls their character
Like the version I always heard was that "i'd rather stare at a girl character all day" or something like that, not hitboxes.
Stage 2. Better clothing options
Stage 3. They look better
Stage 4. Oh shit, I'm a girl
Skyrim comes to mind first for me
Me, now (free of patriarchal expectations): "She looks so fucking good on both armor AND dress and I'm gonna put her in an armor-dress."
Dark elf supremacy
