I play MUD2 (first multiplayer game) every Thursday or so it's still fun even though its always the same 4 people playing and they all know a lot more than me. It's different and it manages to get laughs out of me with all its personality. It's also nice to imagine how places look as you go!
I play it every thursday cus the current community holds small events every week on that day at around 9pm GMT +1. I play the english instance but there are others like a canadian one but I've never gotten around to playing it. The gameplay is also prety cool! It was praised in its day for its depth
Overall as a genre I don't think it's for everyone due to their slow pace but they're very catchy if you get to learning them! It's also nice to use your imagination every now and then. There's still a lot of them around, multiplayer ones included too
That's super cool that there's still people playing MUD, I never really played much text based adventures, the closest was the original King's Quest. If you don't mind me asking, what made you start playing MUD?
I saw an ad on a neocities website and got curious, installed mudlet and just started playing and got taught as I went by the wizes (players turned admins by completing tasks). It wasn't that long ago, still got a lot to learn lol We did a pvp event not too long ago and I got HANDED it was crazy
