Thanks to achievements, research nodes, etc., I finally got to the point where I am able to hyperfocus on one game at a time instead of ping-ponging.

Only took me 40+ since playing an Atari 2600 in the '70s.

Diagnosed a couple years ago at 51, btw.

Yeah I only just started medication which honestly let me let go a bit. My hyper focus got BAD before but then the crash after had me playing nothing for like a week.

If nothing else, it explains why/how I "time travel" on certain games.

The constant dopamine from "One-more-thing" games of building/fixing/creating. This includes anything from Minecraft to Cities Skylines to RimWorld.

Look up it is 9 PM.
Look up 15 minutes later... 2 AM

I agree its so different now. I have so many games I have not got around to even trying. PC gaming you can buy a game of the year and all DLC for $5 if its 6-7 years old, still solid games!

Throw on the remasters of classic titles from yesteryear and that list only gets longer. I had a blast with the Turok Trilogy this year and now I'm on Soul Reaver, with The Thing waiting in the wings.

I don't have a problem with it at all. I don't have the means to play the originals, or emulate them, so why not play them on my console, in comfort with my pad? Can't wait to get stuck into The Thing, but only after Soul Reaver.

I looked at the steam sale and it's so many titles that have come out since I last checked, many of them on sale and with >95% positive reviews. Kinda insane to think about, was worried gaming was going the wrong way back in 2020ish but definitely changed my mind recently

Vehemently disagree... No ownership of titles, broken at launch, harvesting our data, 20 buttons, HUD and vital environment objects are too small to see requiring yellow paint splashed on ladders and doors, long cut scenes, server connection required to play solo, forced updates, etc etc.

For everyone else, the majority, there's almost nothing to enjoy anymore.
