Nintendo first party is too strong to ignore if you are a fan of video games and not companies or plastic boxes. I kind of don't blame them for staying exclusive because it's the only thing that keeps me buying their consoles.

People will generally have the Switch as their secondary platform alongside something else. Nintendo have done a good job sliding into that part of the market.

That might not be so true this time, as a lot of PC gamers who bought the original Switch might just go with a Steam Deck or a Windows handheld. They already have a readymade library.

Still think it’ll sell like hotcakes, though.

I'm of this demographic, and I'm absolutely getting the Switch 2. I'm not one to fiddle with emulators and would want the core Nintendo IPs, plus the back catalog of Switch games.

Then you've got the entire "E for Everyone" audience and parents who are averse to PS/X online stuff.

Yeah, the Switch 2 will still appeal as a family console, so even if the PC audience drops off somewhat (which I suspect it might), it'll still have a huge customer base.

Nintendo stopped "competing" a long time ago. More people should understand this.

They're now the "others" - the device that people have alongside whichever gaming platform they chose.

Indeed. Their strategy, coupled with their relentless fixation with keeping their IPs on their systems, works for them.

It doesn't matter if it's a question of "Playstation or Xbox?", or "Steam Deck or ROG Ally?" or even "iPhone or Galaxy?" -- everyone wants a Nintendo as a side platform.
