Each numbered game is entirely standalone in their own worlds, featuring their own characters and stories. A couple have their own sequels but they're more the outlier. The only things that carry over are certain names and concepts such as chocobos, moogles and characters named Cid.
I'm a huge assassin's creed fan, and I wanted to play some new series.
I see Final Fantasy 14 trending and people seems to love it,I want to give it a try, but when I see "14," it scares me. If it were just 4, I would start from first game just fine, but catching up with 14 seems impossible.
thanks

there is no story crossover, and there is no knowledge from one of the earlier main-series games required to play any other game.
everything low said in all their responses is right
Please ask me anything and everything. I’ve played thousands of hours of final fantasy games especially since I became disabled
