WYNC’s excellent program On The Media has been covering the “defund NPR” beat for decades. Recently, they did a deep dive into how *they* (and NPR more broadly) will be fine if this Republican defunding effort succeeds, but stations that serve rural communities are the ones that will be destroyed.

I work for a local NPR station- to investigate our underwriting is just fodder for what they have wanted for so long! Even back to when Mr. Rogers was on PBS. With newspapers being strapped - we are the last bastion to community. Give to your local NPR stations. Doesn’t need to be a lot- 💕

Each station receives funding from CPB. They are trying to defund it. The “kitty” isn’t braking to federal government bank- but anything that resembles checks and balances is on their radar. NPR stations do more than news- they are about community
