What a great Med Gull - so early to be looking that good. Nice count of Curlew too - I had 200 there exactly a year ago and 287 on 5 March the year before. Think you’ve had higher before though? I’m assuming these are our local breeders - what do you think?

I had a count of 626 Curlew last year but I think that will prove to be exceptional. Before last year, I thought that they may be local breeders but now I’m tending towards these birds being passage birds moving north although where they are heading (Scotland or beyond), I don’t know.

I was treated to the full works, "looking down", head toss and "choking" - a bit like this in Herring, but more abrupt head movements with bills open: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mA33ff5Zr38 But the one day in years when I did not have my phone/camera with me!
