libs accuse leftists of doomerism and then say “actually there is no possible campaign Dems could have run, no universe in which they could’ve done better against Donald Trump, because people are Bad” and i for one absolutely do not believe that

It’s actually not even an internally inconsistent view. When you believe that the Democratic Party is the most politically good and strategically brilliant group of people on the planet, and you see them constantly lose winnable elections, the natural response is to say “welp it’s simply impossible”
(Obviously) this view is horribly wrong and completely detached from anything even resembling reality. But if you’re a real dem hardliner unwilling to blame dems for literally anything at all, ever, then this is the logical conclusion of the dems not being able to have a one-party state by default.
They’re just starting from the assumption that the dems are the best anyone could ever possibly be in politics, and then working backwards from there no matter how much the world around them repeatedly contradicts their worldview.
To be fair, I don’t necessarily think every liberal or democratic voter in the country is like this, and they very well could even be a minority within that specific group.
However, because the Democratic Party refuses to listen to its own base whenever that base disagrees with leadership, and because these people, by definition, are always unconditionally aligned with leadership, they naturally will take the lead on all partisan discourse re: the democrats.
And herein lies the fundamental issue with trying to organize a progressive working class movement within the bounds of a liberal bourgeois political party.
Libs are so heavily invested in the status quo that they can't appreciate how many people are swayed by voting for change, even if "change" takes the form of an odious candidate. Time and time again they respond to discontent with centrism, which to average voters looks like "more of the same."
They are cowards, doing cowardly things. This year instead of delivering a compelling message they tried to go with vibes, likes, & shares. Instead of aggressively campaigning on issues they tried to outshow a showman with big, vacuous rallies. Their strategy begins and ends with fundraising.
